Hantuchova, Schnyder reach Bali quarters

The 2007 Bali runner-up Hantuchova handled Ukrainian qualifier Olga Savchuk 6-1, 7-5, while the Swiss Schnyder topped Chinese Meng Yuan 6-2, 7-5 on Day 3 at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Bali. The Slovakian Hantuchova lost to American Lindsay Davenport in last year's hardcourt finale here.

Hantuchova and Schnyder received opening-round byes at this post-U.S. Open event.

In other second-round play, fifth-seeded Italian Francesca Schiavone shut down Uzbekistan's Akgul Amanmuradova 6-3, 6-2 and Poland's Marta Domachowska outlasted American Jill Craybas 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4. Domachowska will meet Schnyder in Friday's quarterfinals.

The 2008 Bali champion will collect $35,000.
